JettGirl asked:
I watched a movie called “Sex Traffic” over 3 months ago and can’t believe the extent of this problem. What can be done?

farnorthcaligirl@sbcglobal.net added these pithy words on Oct 27 08 at 10:46 pmWhat are women and children doing in the sex industry in the first place?

lana_sands added these pithy words on Oct 28 08 at 9:50 amBasically increased awareness for law enforcement & the customers. The LEO’s, to crack downonit & the users to disuade them from adding to the problem. It’s the world oldest profession for a reason. The market for such services is endless.
Gregory L added these pithy words on Oct 28 08 at 11:07 amPeople make money from it and it’s been going on for the longest time. I don’t know of anything that can be done.
joyce s added these pithy words on Oct 30 08 at 12:29 pmMen need to be held accountable for their crimes against women and children. They rape, impregnate and torture because they get away with it. A slap on the wrist to these monsters will not do. Put them all on a island together so they can rape each other..
Then as a insult men on our “supreme” [ I don't think so] court decide what women can or can not do with their own bodies. I think we need a revolution.
marnefirstinfantry added these pithy words on Nov 02 08 at 2:54 amIt was great to see that you consider the matter of sex slaves and those forced into sex to be a problem. By raising the awareness of people that the problem exists, that is a step in the right direction. Soon laws may/will follow.
Great question and, hopefully, seen by many….
cosy_devil added these pithy words on Nov 03 08 at 1:39 pmWhat all you saw is just the tip of iceberg. There is immense suffering, tons of money which is extracted out of sufferings of delicate children, helpless women & most government officials get kickbacks to maintian it. If every official in everygoverntment in this world was doing his duty hoestly, noone could even dare to snatch a toy from a child leave alone human trafficking. Greed, vanity & materialism has killed compassion for fellow human beings. If you really want to do something then tighten your pants, be ready to risk your life every moment, be ready to get killed anytime & join me.
SoftTSoul added these pithy words on Nov 04 08 at 7:53 amActually – the movie was called “Human Trafficking”, but it involved the sex trade slavery of women and their children.
Article on Women’s Rights – Women’s Plights
When demand stops for such horrendous behavior then so will the supply of it. In the mean time women and their children need to be educated about such demeaning acts upon them from such trickery.
And – Kick your politicians in the *sses and demand that they put their money where they fat mouths are. We want action – not lip service.
p.s. – It’s lazy peoples way of not having to get a real job that force these women and children in the sex trade industry.
roydunsfeld added these pithy words on Nov 04 08 at 10:43 amThis is a global problem. As I see it, slavery is something that can never be eradicated (and the sex trade, which is not automatically the same thing, also cannot be eradicated).
Having said that, I think that the large number of women being forced into the sex trade is a symptom of the economic divide between poor and rich countries (very few women from wealthy and equitable countries are forced into the sex trade).
The best way reduce sex slavery is to reduce the gap between the rich and poor and to have more international cooperation on the issue (in many countries, the penalties for “sex slavery” are very weak – some even penalise the victim but not the pimp).
Tougher penalities, international cooperation, economic development of the third world, adequate welfare in all countries. That is the answer.
Tony S added these pithy words on Nov 06 08 at 11:38 amI work at Lifetime Television, where we’ve aired “Human Trafficking”. After seeing the movie many times, I really think the only way something like this could stop (at least on an American level) is to create tougher laws aimed at the pervs buying into this (even if they purchase a sex slave while visiting another country). If caught in another country, the convicted person would have to register as a “sex offender” (having to report their home to the local police departments) just as if they did the crime here.
Bastards are going to kidnap and hurt women and children if they see the demand for this sort of sick industry. If you curb the demand (you will NEVER really stop it, unfortunately), there would be no industry. And the majority of people that buy into this…..Americans.
