M wii nunchuck wont work with one remote but it works with a different remote.?

I have 2 wii remotes and two nunchucks.One remote works with either nunchuck, but my second remote only works with one nunchuck. For instance, I started Super Mario Galaxy, but then it said to connect a nunchuck to player one. I changed the nunchuck and it worked. Then to test this out I took the nunchuck that wouldnt work with the first wii remote and connected it to my second remote and it worked fine. How do I fix this?
